Previous Letter! Nov 13th, 9am (See amendment above!)

Letter from the Superintendent, Administration and the School Board,

Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, we have seen an unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases across our state, county, and local community. This rise in cases has caused us to be reflective and proactive in our decision-making in order to best serve our community and you, our amazing staff. Due to this rise in cases, we have made the difficult decision to return to a full remote/virtual modality of learning for ALL grades and students. This decision was not easy to make and is ultimately rooted in an abundance of caution and concern for the health and safety of our employees, students and community. To this end, the last day of hybrid learning for Bloomfield Schools will be Friday, November 20, 2020, with full remote/virtual learning commencing on Monday, November 30, 2020 and ending on December 18, 2020. (November 23-27 will still remain a District-wide holiday break in observance of Thanksgiving and December 21-January 1 in observance of Christmas/New Year’s Day. Please remember to take home any and all items needed to support the remote/virtual learning process next week.

Monday, January 4, 2021 is a scheduled professional development day. While this situation will remain under close monitoring, we will resume remote/virtual learning again on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 and end on Friday, January 8, 2021 with hybrid learning set to resume on Monday, January 11, 2021. Should this date change, based on local public health trends, we will communicate it out as quickly as possible through our various communication channels (website, robocall, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.). This safety measure will build in the quarantine period for families and staff through the holidays with no in-person contact from November 23, 2020 through January 8, 2021.

As District Administrators, we know that this reversion to full remote/virtual learning is another obstacle that is not necessarily ideal; however, this abundance of caution and concern for the health and safety of everyone involved is a decision that we would not hesitate to make again.

Please enjoy your time with your immediate family and do not forget to take care of yourselves during this holiday season. Thank you all for your understanding of this decision to help protect our community from further spreading of the virus during and after the holidays.
