New Employee Info

We are excited that you have decided to join us. Please follow these step by step instructions carefully.

As a new employee you are required to visit Human Resources to pick up the paperwork and forms you will need to complete your employment processing.

1. Visit HR to complete your new hire papework. Bring your driver's license, social security card, and/or US Passport. At this time you will receive a benefits packet (if your position is eligible for benefits).

2. Provide licensure information to HR (if required for position)

If a license is required for your position, you must provide the following:

  • License/endorsement certificate
  • Intern license
  • Mentorship form for Level I teachers

3. Be fingerprinted via Livescan for a Background Check

Background and Fingerprinting

  • Applicant will need to go to http://www.cogentid.com/nm/index_NM.htm Under the "applicant user" column applicant will choose "register online for background check"
  • $44.00 fee for certified/classified/support staff payable online or by Money Order or Cashier Check to 3M Cogent. A registration ID is issued at the completion of registration.
  • Cash will NOT be accepted.
  • Personal checks wil NOT be accepted.

New Hire Paperwork

W-4 FORM

Complete this form so that BSD can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay.

I-9 FORM

U.S. employers must complete and retain a Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and non citizens.

The employer must examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s). The list of acceptable documents can be found on the last page of the form.

NM Educational Retirement

You automatically become a member of the Educational Retirement Board (ERB) plan when you begin employment with any entity covered by the Educational Retirement Act (ERA).

Upon your employment, the ERB creates an individual account for you. You must complete a Beneficiary Designation form before a notary and return it to the ERB in order to activate your retirement account. Contributions toward your retirement are deducted from your earnings each pay period and credited to your ERB account. A complete ERB Membership Handbook is available at NMERB website.

NMERB Beneficiary Designation Form

NM ERB Beneficiary Designation Form: This form must be notarized~wait to sign it until you bring in your final paperwork. All members covered by the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board must complete ERB Form 42 to designate a beneficiary for their account. (NMSA 22-11-29 G., NMAC 2.82.5.13).

NM ERB New Hire

NM Educational Retirement Board New & Rehire Form: The New Mexico Educational Retirement Board requires that new or rehired employees complete this form and their employment must be certified by BSD.

Direct Deposit

This form allows BSD to deposit your paycheck directly into your bank accounts. You must bring a VOIDED check in with the form. If you do not have a bank account, then you will receive a PayCard. The forms for the PayCard will be given to you when you turn in your paperwork.

Your BSD Email Account

BSD employees will be assigned an email account when they are hired. Employees are expected to use this account for BSD related business.

Online Paycheck Stubs and Leave Balances

On the Employee Portal, you'll be able to see your leave balances, your insurance provider information, beneficiary information, and more!

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides counseling services for BSD employees for physical, mental health, job-related issues, marriage, family, career counseling, and resources and referrals. All services are free and provided in a confidential setting.
