Reading is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF)
(RIF)
is a nationwide organization that works through local communities to motivate
and prepare American young people to read by delivering free books and literacy
resources to those children and families who need them most.
Founded
in 1966, RIF is the oldest and largest children’s and family nonprofit literacy
organization in the United States. RIF
programs annually serve 5.1 million children of all ages, most of who are at
risk of educational failure, with a focus on those from birth to age 11.
Bloomfield’s
(RIF) program provides book distributions for students at Blanco Elementary (K
- 6) and the Bloomfield Family Learning Center (Pre- K and K) so that students
have an opportunity to choose a book to keep and read. Three book distributions are made throughout
the school year. Two companies in the
community support the district RIF programs.
Sundial supports BFLC’s RIF program.
Herbert’s Welding supports Blanco’s RIF program.
